Digital Divide

PLE 2a4

Technology separation amongst the classes.  My initial though was full of memories growing up in rural Virginia and going off to college not knowing what was ahead but eager to tackle it.  Once I arrived, I realized that I was unprepared, compared to my classmates from Northern Va. and the beach area that is.  Catch up was an understatement.

As a group we discussed the digital divide and gave examples and possible  solutions to aid each locality in closing the achievement gap.  Through communication and collaboration we our focus narrowed and shifted more so to those who are disadvantaged and lack the means to purchase or access current technology.  In addition to that, we also looked at broadening what is an acceptable means for using technology, not just laptops but the consideration for other portals such as IPods, Cellphones, etc…

Not sure of what has been more beneficial, the communication aspect of EDLP 709 or the reflection process that it has created within.
